Thatcher is a 17 H Bay licensed NA/WPN Dutch Warmblood stallion out of the Provisional Keur mare, Mistral (Vincent x El Corona) by the dressage stallion, Welt Hit II. Welt Hit II (by Weltmeyer) is known for his presence and beauty as well as his movement, and Thatcher has strongly taken after him.

Thatcher was awarded a 1st Premium at the NA/WPN Keuring in 2000 and was presented in 2002 for his 2 year old preliminary stallion inspection where he also received a 1st Premium. He was recognized as No. 1 on the 2002 Top Ten List for Two Year Old Colts.

Thatcher was presented in 2003 for stallion licensing and was accepted. His IBOP scores for Dressage were: Walk - 9.0, Trot - 7.5, Canter - 8.0 and Dressage Talent - 8.5

According to the Keuring jury: "Thatcher is an excellent modern, riding type stallion with lovely conformation and beautiful uphill movement He has an exceptionally good front and shoulder with a good length and position of neck and a very correct topline. Thatcher's clear walk is supple with a very good reach. The trot is especially elastic with good reach from the shoulder and good carriage. The canter also has good reach, is supple and the horse is able to carry the weight of the rider easily. Thatcher seems to have a good mind, a willing character and good working ethic."

Thatcher has an interesting pedigree, which is also shown by his expected values of 167 for dressage, 108 for conformation and 109 for movement.

Thatcher's dam - MISTRAL
Misty received her Ster in Holland in 1998 and was invited to the National Mare Show in Ermelo where she was named Reserve Champion. At the 2000 Keuring in Houston where she received her provisional Keur designation, Misty was named best mature mare and was praised for her exceptional movement especially her use of the hind legs. Misty's sire was the Dutch stallion, Olympic Vincent. On the 2004/2005 KWPN Stallion Index, Vincent is listed as Number 2 for dressage with a 194 and 77% reliability. At his performance test he received 8.5, 8.5 and 9 on his basic gaits. He had an impressive dressage career in Holland, most notably being named Dutch Champion at the 1989 Grand Prix at Haaksbergen. He has one KWPN approved son, Cabochon who was also recently awarded the Keur designation, and an approved brother, Vanitas. Misty's damsire, El Corona, is listed as Number 1 on the same dressage index with a 199 and 80% reliability.

Standing 16.1 H, he has exceptional dressage ability with cadenced movements and beautiful suspension and elevation. Weltmeyer most recently added "1998 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year" to his already long list of accomplishments including: 1986 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing Champion; 1987 German National Champion Three-Year-Old Riding Horse; 1989 DLG Champion; and 1997 Stallion Performance Test Champion. In 2003 Weltmeyer was the USA Equestrian's Leading Dressage Sire.

Weltmeyer has 64 licensed sons and 205 out of 473 (almost half!) of his mares have achieved the coveted "States Premium Mare" title in Germany. His first Olympic competitor, Wall Street, competed for Australia in Sydney. His daughter, Weserperle, competes at Grand Prix level in Germany.

Welt Hit II's dam - CILESTE
Cileste is of East Friesian breeding with a marked Arabian influence in early generations. She produced SIX approved sons by Weltmeyer, Welt Hit I 0 through Welt Hit VI. Of all, Welt Hit II is generally regarded as the best producer.

The damline also produced other stallions including:

. Dressage stallion, Wolgatraun (by Woronesch)
. Granilli S (by Grannus) who was "premiehenst"
(premium stallion) in Oldenburg in 1994
. Herannus (by Grannus) moved to and approved by KWPN
Jo Hinnemann who coached Coby van Baalan on Welt Hit II until 2002 commented on the stallion as follows
"He has such a good mind, and he is such an intelligent horse. He wants to work for the rider. He has a lot of talent for the piaffe/passage…. there is no question he will be a good Grand Prix horse."
